Dr. Derek Baker from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was our guest lecturer on Thursday, May 14, 2009.  Dr. Baker studies thermodynamics, with special interest and expertise in fuel cells, solar energy, renewable energy, and second-law analysis.  We thank Dr. Baker for his talk, titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the second law, but were afraid to ask," which provided a most interesting expose on thermodynamics-related aspects of sustainability.

 S. Yeralan and S. Pasoglu appeared on the ART TV morning show on May 5, 2009 to introduce the topic of sustainability.  The talk included Ms Pasoglu's recent trip to attend functions of the G20 meeting in London, as well the courseware being developed by Dr Yeralan at METU with the support of TUBITAK (Program 2221) and the University of Florida.
